• Fairlawn Council discusses TIF legislation, mayor's explanation (akron.com) — Fairlawn residents just got a clearer picture of how upcoming development could fund roads, utilities, and parkland without raising property taxes, as Mayor Russell Sharnsky walked council through Tax Increment Financing and several related ordinances. Council discussed TIFs for Fairlawn Country Club, Fairlawn Town Center, and a $21 million West Market Street project with new restaurants and townhomes, plus heard updates on the Rosemont Preserve trail project and other city business.
   

• Bistro 81 reopens for the 2026-27 school year at Copley High School (akron.com) — Students from Copley-Fairlawn City Schools have reopened Bistro 81, a student-run café at Copley High School that's now serving the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Fairlawn-area families can dine in or order carryout while supporting local teens gaining real-world culinary, hospitality, and management experience through the Four Cities Compact career program.
   

• Summit Emergency Communications Center named Ohio Dispatch Center of Year (akron.com) — Fairlawn's 911 calls are handled by an award-winning team, as the Summit Emergency Communications Center was just named Ohio's 2025 Gold Star Dispatch Center of the Year. The regional center serves Fairlawn and several neighboring communities, recognizing local dispatchers' training, technology, and calm response during emergencies that directly affect residents' safety.
