Cervical cancer was once a common cause of cancer death in women, but the Pap test has led to a significant decline in the number of deaths as it detects early signs of this cancer. A free Pap test and pelvic exam will be provided for uninsured and underinsured women age 21 and older (or younger if sexually active), as well as a clinical breast exam, on Saturday, May 18, from 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Akron General Women’s Health Clinic, 676 South Broadway Street, second floor, Akron. Those with an abnormal finding on their breast exam will be offered a same-day mammogram. All women attending will be able to schedule any needed follow-up tests. Please call 330-344-AGMC (2462) to make an appointment for this life-saving screening.
