Summit County Farm Bureau's 5th Annual Farm Care/Share Breakfast

“Breakfast for a Buck” is back to support Farmers, area Food Bank


The Summit County Farm Bureau is hosting its 5th Annual Farmer’s Care/Share Breakfast, “Breakfast for a Buck” in celebration of farmers which provide safe, abundant & affordable food in the United States.


When: Saturday March 23rd, 2013 from 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM. (while supplies last)

Where: Copley High School, located at: 3807 Ridgewood Road, Copley, Ohio 44321


What: “Breakfast for a Buck” includes Pancakes & maple syrup (locally produced in Copley, Ohio), scrambled eggs, sausage, milk & coffee.

Cost: The breakfast is $1.00 per person which represents the average portion the farmer receives as compensation for producing the food for the breakfast.
All proceeds from the breakfast will be donated to Akron Canton Regional Food Bank and other local charities. The breakfast is open to the public & families are welcome.

Free Vegetable Gardening Seminar at 8:45 & 10:00 AM:


Successive Vegetable Gardening to Stretch the Season Presented by: Vince Matlock, Summit Co. Master Gardener specializing in backyard & local foods.


Learn vegetable gardening techniques to extend the growing season and stretch your harvest from early spring until late fall. Vince is an avid and experienced vegetable gardener. He will share his hands-on experiences in his presentations and will be happy to answer all your gardening questions. Whether one is a new or an experienced gardener they will enjoy this program and learn new techniques.


Canned Food Drive – receive a raffle ticket to win a container of ice cream from Smith’s Dairy every month for a year in exchange for a canned goods donation.

Summit County Farm Bureau Mobile Learning Laboratory on site for fun & educational activities for adults & children. This year you will learn how maple syrup is made and taste the difference between sap and syrup.
 
Displays by local 4-H groups, OSU Extension Service, and a “hands-on” planting project with volunteers from the Greater Akron Garden Club. The project includes making a pot out of recycled newspapers and planting garden seeds.
