Three
faculty from the Fairlawn School of Music are hosting a free concert May 10 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron (3300 Morewood Road, Akron 44333).
The
performers, all three of whom teach at the Fairlawn School of Music, are Andrew
Stefaniak, Kaitlyn Zevchek and Sarah Barford. Stefaniak holds a Bachelor’s and
Master’s Degree in Clarinet Performance from the University of Cincinatti
College Conservatory. Zevchek holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Kent State
University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Akron, both in Flute
Performance. Barford holds a Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Fredonia and a
Master’s Degree from Bowling Green State University, both in Oboe Performance. In
addition to their education, each has performance experience garnered through their educational journey which makes their performance cohesive and full of
energy.
The
trio met during a Fairlawn School of Music gathering, and discussed the
possibility of forming a group to perform at community events and for weddings.
Barford said, “We want to play in an ensemble and have fun, so we created one.”

Director
of the Fairlawn and Hudson Schools of Music is thrilled to see them perform
together. Reed said, “It is always special to see the teachers collaborate with
one another on projects. Not only are the members of this trio educated and
experienced teachers, they are stellar performers.”
The
program will feature the works of Haydn, Mozart and Saint-Saens. The concert
begins promptly at 7pm and is free and open to the public.
