National Event To Be Hosted in Cleveland for the First Time
Local chapter of Girls on the Run to host inaugural Cleveland 5k on November 15.

MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio – October 11, 2015 – Girls on the Run Northeast Ohio (gotrNEO) is bringing its fall 5k to Mayfield High School in Mayfield Village November 15th. This will be the first Girls on the Run 5k to be hosted in Cuyahoga County after the program decided to offer the new course for their fall season.
Robyn Cutler, Executive Director of gotrRNEO explained what the move means to the organization. “Not only does this offer a new challenging course for the girls, it also brings our five counties a little closer together as we rotate in a northern and southern county race venue. We are really looking forward to extending our Girls on the Run family.”
The fall 5k begins at 9:30am at Mayfield High School and is open to the public. All ages are welcome and encouraged to participate in Cleveland’s first Girls on the Run Northeast Ohio event. Those 16 and older are encouraged to take advantage of the many volunteer opportunities available. This non-competitive, untimed running event promotes participants to celebrate themselves and simply have fun.

The Girls on the Run 5k series is celebrated nationally, with more than 200 events held across the U.S. and is the largest youth-focused 5k in the world. This gotrNEO event will bring more than 600 girls from five Northeast Ohio counties to celebrate the conclusion of a 10-week session aimed at building self-esteem and improving emotional and physical health. The curriculum teaches young girls that the possibilities are endless and that the word ‘can’t’ is not a word that should be in their vocabulary.
