Police: Macy's Clerk Punched During Struggle With Thief

The following was obtained from a Fairlawn police report dated Feb. 25. It does not indicate a conviction.

On Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m., a Macy's clerk watched a suspected thief walk out of the men's fitting room with one pair of jeans after walking in with two.

The clerk quickly canvassed the fitting room, finding only a torn off price tag, according to the Fairlawn police report. 

As the man tried to leave the store, she confronted him, and, during a brief struggle, he reportedly punched her in the chest.

He then fled to the parking lot and sped off in a red Kia Spectra.

Five Fairlawn police cruisers were dispatched to the scene, but were unable to locate the man.

The incident is under investigation.
