City of Fairlawn Officially Brands Market Street as The 18 Corridor. The City of Fairlawn has branded their section of State Route 18, a 2.1 mile stretch along Market Street, officially as The 18 Corridor. With this branding effort, their goal is to attract more visitors and business to the city, and encourage them to take advantage of the many shops, businesses, restaurants and lodging. The campaign is also aiming to encourage tourists to stay in Fairlawn lodging when taking in the many sites in the Greater Cleveland and Greater Akron areas. The city will also use the effort to attract new businesses to locate or relocate to Fairlawn, while also encouraging redevelopment and updating of existing properties. There will be several programs put into motion in the next months and years to help achieve this goal. Planned marketing executions will include the development of traditional and online digital billboards, a social media campaign, several community related events, video development and public relations. Local businesses will also have multiple opportunities to partner with the city throughout the campaign. The City of Fairlawn launched a new website in conjunction with the branding effort, designed to promote local businesses and the programs they will be implementing. The new website can be accessed at www.The18Corridor.com. Businesses in the area will also be able to promote their business on the new website and The 18 Corridor social media platforms. The branding and subsequent marketing campaign was developed and is being managed by The Eisen Agency, a nationally award winning branding, marketing and media agency that works with destination points, municipalities and businesses.

The Copley girls basketball team lost to Green High School, 37-33, in the first round of sectional play held Saturday morning at Akron Ellet High School. The Lady Indians trailed the Bulldogs by 18 points at halftime (26-8), but rallied in the third quarter, outscoring Green 20-3. Trailing the Bulldogs by one entering the fourth quarter (29-28) was as close as Copley would get. Numerous mistakes and sloppy play down the stretch secured the victory for Green. Senior Megan Rivera had a game-high 15 points for Copley (12-9 overall). Other contributors included seniors Hannah Seeman (9 points) and Taylor Reif (8), and junior Emma Fish (1). Senior Logan Pastor led the Bulldogs (14-7 overall) with 14 points. Green's next game will be Thursday evening against top-seeded Akron Firestone also hosted by Ellet High School.
