Once again it has been an up and down news week for 3d printing. Firearms seem to be the media's main focus. Will this overshadow other industrial and artistic endeavors? For example in Miami an artist has created an exhibit based on his 12 past girlfriends. Each shoe was based on the personality and history of the relationship.
The other activity I participated in last week was a co-office meetup. It took place in Akron and was sponsored by Bizdom. At this meetup they went over the rules for applying to the tartup accelerator. Basically after you apply with your business plan they choose and you have a 10 percent chance of approval and have a 3 month period of time. As a result you receive high level mentoring and 25k for a stake in your business. It is a non-profit so this stake in your business is used to continue the program. After the meetup I headed a few blocks over to Synhack. Here I was given a guided tour and met about 6 of the members. Although I was mainly there to check out there 3d printer, I was also encouraged they are looking to expand into a larger area and also add more printers.
