• Gerald 'Jerry' R. Crawford (89) (mycountylink.com) — Greenville is mourning Gerald "Jerry" R. Crawford, 89, a Marine Corps veteran, longtime truck driver, and devoted family man who passed away at Brethren Retirement Community. A celebration of his life will be held Oct. 10 at Tribute Funeral Homes in Greenville, with visitation an hour prior and burial with full military honors at Mote Cemetery.
• Arcanum stays undefeated in conference play, FM wins in five-set match against Bradford; high school volleyball roundup (dailyadvocate.com) — Greenville High School's volleyball team evened its record at 8–8 with a 3–1 road win over Troy, led by strong performances from seniors Avery Shipp and Megan Loudy. Local fans can next see the Lady Wave at home against Xenia on Sept. 29, followed by a trip to Stebbins the next night.
