1. Making the Most Out of the Rec Center (kentstater.com) — Kent State students in Kent can get far more from the Beverly J. Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center than just treadmills and basketball courts. From beginner-friendly adventure trips and instructional clinics to saunas, a mental health–focused Well Hub, and casual games, the center offers many ways to de-stress, build community, and stay active using benefits already included in tuition.
   

2. Kent State awarded $1.3M grant to support students entering teaching profession (spectrumnews1.com) — Kent State University in Kent has secured a five-year, $1.3 million federal TRIO grant to support 140 undergraduates preparing to become teachers, especially first-generation, low-income, and disabled students. The funding will provide tutoring, advising, financial aid guidance, and other support aimed at boosting degree completion and helping more locally trained educators reach their own classrooms.
   

3. Watch: Billy Strings and Béla Fleck Visit 'Tennessee' Together (relix.com) — Fans in Kent will get a chance to see Béla Fleck's My Bluegrass Heart band live at The Kent Stage on November 10, part of a national tour behind his new Ryman Auditorium concert album. The project features a standout version of the bluegrass classic "Tennessee" with Billy Strings and showcases an all-star lineup that's drawing strong attention from roots music followers.
   

4. Kent man convicted of rapes at Ravenna store (centredaily.com) — A Kent man has been convicted in Portage County Common Pleas Court of kidnapping, rape, and gross sexual imposition stemming from a 2023 assault in a Ravenna store. Jurors reviewed security and phone video as well as the victim's later statements, and the defendant now awaits sentencing pending a probation office report.
