Students at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) are hosting a free community health fair, “The Body and Beyond,” on Saturday, April 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Ralph Regula Conference Center at NEOMED’s campus in Rootstown.
Sponsored by the American Medical Student Association, the health fair will include health screenings, including cholesterol, body mass index, blood pressure, blood sugar testing, glaucoma screening, and heart disease risk assessments as well as presentations on important health topics such as diabetes, stress relief, diet and nutrition, exercise, mental health, insurance information and more. There will also be an area dedicated to children’s activities, including face paintings and games along with safety education and demonstrations.
This year’s exhibit will feature a special Brown Bag event, offering pre-registered and walk-in participants the opportunity to receive individual counseling from a pharmacist regarding their medications and prescriptions. Individuals interested in a consultation are encouraged to bring all prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications they take for the discussion.
