Kent, OH – April 23, 2012 – Portage Community Bank donated money for a scholarship to support student employees at The Tannery and Student Media at Kent State University.
Thanks to its investment of $2,000, two Kent State students can focus more on the most important aspect of school — learning.
The scholarship is broken into two $1,000 scholarships to be awarded to students who graduated from a Portage County high school and demonstrated financial need. The scholarships are awarded each spring, and this is the third year the bank has donated the money for the scholarships. The first two years, the awards went to two media students.

Evan Bailey, operations manager at The Tannery, said he’s very grateful of Portage Community Bank’s generous support of The Tannery and Student Media. One of the scholarships will be awarded to a student employee at The Tannery this fall.
“One of the most rewarding aspects of working with the Bank has been a shared interest to create and invest in partnerships that support education and business within the Kent State and Portage County community,” Bailey said.
Portage Community Bank is locally owned and operated since 1998, and is proud to serve the Portage County Community.
