Kent State University Celebrates University Press Week, November 11–17, 2012

In an information age glutted with questionable or misleading sources and data, university presses fill a critical role in reviewing and vetting information and publishing only the best research and writing. The Kent State University Press is a proud member of the Association of American University Presses (AAUP), a community of 133 publishers that serves, informs, and educates the reading public.

Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2012, AAUP’s collective mission is to support creative and reliable scholarly communications. In recognition of that mission, November 11–17 has been designated the first annual “University Press Week.”

One of the most vital ways Kent State University Press fulfills that mission is by publishing books about the history and culture of the Ohio region, books like Growing Season: The Life of Migrant Community by KSU’s Gary Harwood and David Hassler.
