Many of you saw the double rainbow late in the afternoon last Saturday. I did also, but by the time I got to an open area with my camera, one of them decided to disappear. This is the way with atmospheric events- they can come and go faster than you can say "Look! A double rain . . . rats." But the remaining bow was interesting nonetheless, for it was made incomplete by clouds and rain between it and me. The result is more ominous than a full rainbow.
The more observant reader might ask "Shouldn't rain in front of a rainbow add to the bow instead of blocking it?" In this case, the rain was in the shade of a cloud.
