Riders Blast Bombers
Cleveland Indians play-by-play man Tom Hamilton is guest public address announcer as Riders hockey team shuts out Kentson.

Special guest public address announcer and Cleveland Indians play-by-play man, Tom Hamilton, had plenty of time on the microphone Thursday night, calling 10 goals scored by the Rough Riders in their 10-0 victory over the Kenston Bombers at Kent State University Ice Arena.
The Bombers entered the game previously undefeated in league play. “Kenston was the team to beat, coming into tonight’s game, but coming in our kids knew we had our hands full and we had a lot of work to do in practice this week,” explained Roosevelt Coach Ben Barlow. “We switched some systems around to put us in the best position to play well and ultimately come out with a victory.”
After a first period in which the Rider’s Bob Danner scored two of his four goals in the game, the Riders exploded for seven second-period goals and one tally early in the third period which ended the game, shortened due to the mercy rule.

In total, nine different Rough Riders were on the score sheet for either a goal or assist in the game.
“Lots of guys produced tonight” observed Barlow.

Roosevelt goaltender Nate Grootegoed recorded shut out and, according to Barlow, “played well and made a miraculous, highlight-reel save in a penalty kill situation”
“Defensively we were consistent and our defensemen have being doing a good job all year. I am extremely pleased with what we are getting out of those guys," he said.
“Games like these can be difficult to coach, because everybody is trying to do their own thing and get on the score sheet, but for the most part our kids held it together," commented Barlow.
Blue line notes:
Barlow expressed extreme gratitude on behalf of the Roosevelt community
to Tom Hamilton for donating his time to visit with the team and be the public
address announcer throughout the evening.
Hamilton's visit was arranged through the efforts of the Pfeiffer family.
