Calumet, MI band Gratiot Lake Road has been writing and playing mellow, down-tempo folk songs that embody the ambiance of northern Michigan since the winter of 2009. Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula is the setting for Gratiot Lake Road's music, featuring poetic lyrics set to carefully-crafted guitar picking, soft banjo melodies, and thoughtful drum beats. The songs include themes of tall tales of escape, suffering the inevitable winter, the tragic beauty of nature, musings of age-old lovers, and the weight of regret. Playing regularly in Michigan and Virginia, Gratiot Lake Road has shared a stage with many Midwest and national acts including Frontier Ruckus, Breathe Owl Breathe, and Red Tail Ring. After releasing their debut full-length album (Stamp Sand Shores, 2012), Gratiot Lake Road toured the Midwest in November 2012.
