Grief is a universal emotion, one that can overwhelm children as well as adults. When we lose a loved one, there are many feelings that may need to be processed – feelings of sorrow, loneliness, and even anger. Kelly’s Grief Center is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) that was founded in 2009 to provide support and counseling by licensed health care professionals for both adults, teens and children grieving the loss of a loved one. Kelly’s is committed to making sure help will be immediate, accessible and of the highest professional quality. The center serves individuals of all ages and offers support through both one on one counseling and/or therapy groups. These groups are designed to provide a safe and supportive setting for people to share their loss journey with others. Every second and fourth Tuesday of the month, three unique support groups that are developmentally appropriate (one for children, one for teens and one for adults) (and include sessions for adults, teens and younger children) meet to help participants understand and work through their grief. These groups are educational and supportive and focus on teaching children, teens and adults healthy ways to cope with feelings and emotions associated with life transitions. Facilitated by Center Therapists, participants are provided the opportunity to explore the impact the loss has had and continues to have on their lives. The groups, Adult, Teen and Kids, meet every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 6:30 pm until 8 pm.
Kelly’s Grief Center is located in the Counseling for Wellness building at 420 West Main Street, Kent. Preregistration is a must. Call 330-677-2000 or for further information please contact: Amanda, Aileen, Loralea, or Wendy at 330-677-2000.
