Kent State University School of Art Galleries will host the annual “Small Works Competition” Nov. 16 through Dec. 22, 2012 in the Downtown Gallery. The Gallery will host an opening reception Thursday, Nov. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m., free and open to the public. The Downtown Gallery is located at 141 E. Main St. in downtown Kent, Ohio. Free parking is available behind the Gallery. The Small Works Competition is open to regional and local artists and Kent State students, faculty and staff. The art must fall within a 12-inch-by-12-inch-by-12-inch size requirement. The exhibition promises to represent a variety of artistic styles and techniques. Last year’s competition featured jewelry and metal, paintings, prints, ceramics and more.
