The School of Theatre and Dance and the Roe Green Visiting Director Series will present this play, which is the tale of a Jewish merchant at the time of the Christian Crusades in Muslim Jerusalem, a city determinedly clinging to hope in a time of chaos. The play makes a fervent plea for religious tolerance, describing how the wise Jewish merchant Nathan, the enlightened sultan Saladin and a (initially anonymous) Christian Templar bridge the gaps between Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
Performances will be held at 8 p.m. April 13-14 and 17-21 and at 2 p.m. April 15 and 22.
