Four Kent State Students Arrested During End-of-Year Celebrations
Kent police arrested 16 people this weekend as students marked the end of the school year

Four students at Kent State University were arrested this weekend as hundreds gathered in Kent to celebrate the end of the school year.
Kent police arrested 16 people on charges ranging from underage drinking to disorderly conduct and drunk driving late Saturday and early Sunday, according to police reports. The number of arrests is far less than the 65 arrested last year on the weekend just before finals started at Kent State.
Of the 17 arrested, the four listed as registered students by Kent State are:

- John R. McClellan, 22, of Chagrin Falls. He was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a first-degree misdemeanor. Police stopped McClellan near the intersection of North Lincoln and Main streets Saturday.
- Michael R. Phillips, 19, of Solon. He was charged with possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor, obstructing justice, a second-degree misdemeanor, and resisting arrest, also a second-degree misdemeanor on Saturday.
- Nathan R. Rango, 22, of Silver Lake, was charged Saturday with littering, a third-degree misdemeanor.
- Ryan W. Ruby, 20, of Vermilion, was charged Saturday with underage drinking, a first-degree misdemeanor.
The other arrests this weekend included:
- Lee J. Brooker, 42, Kent, was charged May 1 with disorderly conduct intoxication, a minor misdemeanor.
- Jacob R. Brown, 22, of Medina, was charged May 1 with disorderly conduct intoxication.
- Charles R. Vinson, 22, of Canton, was charged May 1 with criminal trespass, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.
- Joshua E. Cook, 19, of Perry, was charged April 30 with underage drinking, a first-degree misdemeanor.
- Sayel T. Hassan, 18, of Brook Park, was charged April 30 with disorderly conduct after a warning.
- David T. Yascone, 25, of Cleveland, was charged May 1 with disorderly conduct intoxication.
- James R. Fajfac, 22, of Medina, was charged May 1 with disorderly conduct intoxication.
- Nicolas A. Spies, 18, of Chesterland, was charged April 30 with underage drinking.
- Alexander Tannen, 20, of Philadelphia, was charged April 30 with underage drinking.
- Joshua M. Hudson, 20, of Orrville, was charged April 30 with underage drinking.
- Ryan A. Garris, 22, of Aurora, was charged April 30 with operating a vehicle while drunk, a first-degree misdemeanor, failure to maintain assured clear distance, a minor misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor.
- Steven T. Lazaroff, 22, of Massillon, was charged with driving under suspension, a first-degree misdemeanor, after police stopped him Saturday near the intersection of East Main Street and University Drive.
