Get Those Shovels Ready For Action

Roads are getting slippery as snowstorm kicks into gear.

The evening commute home could be a slippery one, if your chosen route hasn't yet been plowed and salted by the .

There have been several non-injury accidents in the past hour, according to radio traffic, including a couple cars which slid off the road.

One officer told a dispatcher at 4:20 p.m. that the service department "needs to hit the hill on Main Street. People are getting stuck."

Another officer called in minutes later, saying Summit Street also needed attention. "It's getting pretty bad," she said.

According to the National Weather Service forecast for Kent, one to three inches of accumulation is possible before 7 tonight. The overnight low is expected to hit single digits. Another inch of snow accumulation is possible overnight.

More snow is possible Friday, mainly after 4 p.m., but should be less than an inch. The day will be mostly cloudy, with a high around 22.
