May 4 Commemoration Moved Inside Due to Weather

Commemoration ceremonies to mark the 41st anniversary of the May 4, 1970, shootings on the campus will be held inside today due to weather.

Typically, the ceremonies are held on the Commons near Taylor Hall. But this year the cold temperatures and recent heavy rains are forcing the ceremonies into the Kent State Student Center Ballroom.

Kent State University emeritus professor Jerry Lewis, a witness to the shootings, said in an email it's not been uncommon in the past to move the events indoors.
