Mike Kerrigan Announces Run for Portage County Commissioner

Career public servant and Portage County native Mike Kerrigan announced his candidacy for Portage County Commissioner on August 16, 2015.

ROOTSTOWN, OHIO – Career public servant and Portage County native Mike Kerrigan announced his candidacy for Portage County Commissioner on August 16, 2015.

In seeking the Democratic nomination for Commissioner, Mike hopes to unite Portage County by promoting job creation, spurring economic development, fostering greater collaboration, and building stronger communities for generations to come.

“We have a lot to be proud of in Portage County, but we also face a number of tough challenges and still have plenty of hard work ahead of us to ensure our county continues as one of the best in the state to live, work, and play,” said Mike. “I believe we must do more – and do better – to leverage our community’s optimism, courage, and our collective strengths and abilities to their fullest potential to achieve a brighter future. That is why, today, I announce my candidacy for Portage County Commissioner – to move our County forward and make our communities the envy of the state.”

Mike has worked and advocated for the citizens of Portage County at the local, state, and federal levels his entire career, serving in various positions for three current and former Members of Congress, The Ohio State University, and now Northeast Ohio Medical University where he is the Associate Director of Community Relations. Mike lives in Rootstown with his wife, Heather, and their daughter, Maddie. Mike and Heather are active members of the community, volunteering their time with numerous community service organizations and chambers of commerce countywide.
