Walk For the Children
4.5 K walk at 2 p.m. on October 26th to benefit LoveLight programs including summer lunches & activities in local low-income neighborhoods
On Sunday, October 26th, there will be a 4.5 K Walk For the Children to raise money for programs sponsored by LoveLight, Inc., a local non-profit which provides lunches (over 50,000 served to date) and activities in the summer in several lower-income neighborhoods in Kent and surrounding communities. Another LoveLight project is the Rhythmic Movement Training Symposium at Kent State, offering information on a promising model shown to help improve motor skills, reading, attention, emotional development, and behaviors commonly associated with ADHD and autism. “Building Community, Building Futures” is a LoveLight partnership with the new owners of Villages at Franklin Crossing (formerly Silver Meadows Apts.) to revitalize the neighborhood and provide, in conjunction with other organizations, a variety of programs and services such as blood pressure screening and after school children’s activities.
The Walk will begin on the Kent State Commons at 2 p.m. , continue north along the river to downtown Kent, along the Esplanade and back to the Commons. We are looking for 100 people to walk and raise money to support the children and families of our community while getting good exercise and enjoying the company of friends and family. To walk or make a donation, please contact Betsy Justice at lkjusti1@kent.edu or call (330) 673-5839. Donations may be sent to LoveLight, Inc. P.O. Box 123 Kent, Ohio 44240. Thank You!
