Community Corner

Walk For the Children

     LoveLight, Inc.,
a Kent-based nonprofit organization, is holding a 7K Walk For the Children on
Sunday, November 3rd at 2 p.m. to raise money to support LoveLight
programs, especially the Tutoring PLUS and summer programs. Tutoring PLUS is
designed to help learners of all ages by identifying and addressing obstacles
to their success. During this past summer, more than 4,000 nutritious lunches
were prepared at St. Patrick Church and taken to 7 local, lower-income
neighborhoods in Kent.
Activities were also provided at the sites, as resources permitted. We would like to continue and expand our services to the community.

     The goal of the
Walk is to raise $10,000 and LoveLight is inviting community members and businesses/organizations to participate by walking or sponsoring a walker. Businesses/organizations
which have a representative participating in the Walk will be given a placard to
be worn by the walker so that the name of the business or organization can be
displayed. Businesses/organizations may also opt to make a donation and have a LoveLight
staff or volunteer display a placard with the business/organization name as s/he walks along
the 7 K route, which will begin on the KSU campus, wind north, head along the
trail by the river, through Acorn Alley, and back to campus.

For more information or to participate as a sponsor or
walker, please contact Dr. Lisbeth (Betsy) Justice at (330) 673-5839 or lkjusti1@kent.edu
