The Ohio Department of Education requires all teachers to begin their careers in the Ohio Resident Educator Program, a four-year comprehensive induction program of support for beginning teachers. RESA is a set of performance tasks completed by teachers during the third year of residency. The performance tasks are designed to reflect the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession in which teachers provide evidence of teaching and its impact on student performance. Teachers must successfully pass all parts of RESA and complete all four years of the program in order to advance their license to a five-year professional license.
