2019 Front Porch Concert Series Kicks Off Friday, June 28

Funk-fusion band The Pocket opens the ninth year of LakewoodAlive's free concert series in Downtown Lakewood

Live music starts at 7 p.m. from the front porch of Lakewood Public Library

Let’s get this party started. A longtime Lakewood summer tradition renews for a ninth year when funk-fusion band The Pocket kicks off LakewoodAlive’s 2019 Front Porch Concert Series at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 28.

Sponsored by Bentley Wealth Management of Raymond James, the Front Porch Concert Series features free, live music on the front steps of Lakewood Public Library (15425 Detroit Avenue) in Downtown Lakewood from 7 to 9 p.m. for 10 consecutive Fridays. The series, which aims to foster Lakewood’s vibrancy while providing a family-friendly summer entertainment option, runs through August 30.

Week 1 is presented by Bentley Wealth Management of Raymond James and features a performance by The Pocket. This fun-loving band will get the crowd grooving with a funk-fusion sound blending elements of jazz, funk and soul.

The Pocket is fronted by Chris Vance, a mainstay in the local music scene who has been performing and offering private musical instruction for more than a decade. Vance, formerly the owner of a Lakewood-based music studio, had been instrumental in helping to develop the Front Porch Concert Series over the years, and he is excited to perform at this unique venue in Downtown Lakewood.

Now in its ninth year, LakewoodAlive’s popular Front Porch Concert Series adds vibrancy and an enhanced sense of community to Lakewood’s urban core, drawing several thousand attendees annually.
