4 Arrested for Lakewood Shell Gas Station Shooting; Victim in Critical Condition

LAKEWOOD, OH - Four men have been arrested in connection with a shooting at the Shell Gas Station, 1538 W.117th St., on Sept. 30, that left one man in critical condition at Metro General Hospital.
The four men arrested were Evan Carter, 18, Daveon Denson, 19, and Johnny Miller, 19, all residents of Lakewood; as well as Orrion Robinson, a Cleveland resident who is also 18.
Christopher Bates, 27, of Maple Heights is the victim. He was at the Shell Gas Station on Sept. 30, when a car driving by on Franklin Blvd. opened fire. Bates was struck in the head, accounts say. Bates was transported to Metro General Hospital by EMS. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Captain Gary Sprague of Lakewood Police says Bates has been in and out of consciousness, but in his lucid moments he was able to provide a description of the shooting to police. Using that and footage from area cameras officers were able to identify the suspects' vehicle and then track down the suspects.
Lakewood police investigated the incident over the weekend, when they identified four suspects and issued warrants for their arrest. All four men have been charged with attempted murder and investigation into why they shot Bates continues.
