9 Must Know Back-to-School Dates In Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, OH — For the first time, freshmen and other new students at Lakewood High will have a day to acclimate themselves to their new school building, the district announced. The announcement comes as night begins to fall quicker, yet another sign of summer's impending close and the beginning of another school year.

While no one is suggesting it's time to pack up the shorts and bust out a trusty cardigan, it is time to start thinking about students returning to school. It's also time to run out and buy school supplies for students and their teachers.

This year will mark the first time Ohio's new, permanent sales-tax holiday will be in place. On Friday, August 2, through Sunday, August 4, there will be no sales tax on certain school supplies, clothing and school instructional materials.

According to the Ohio Department of Taxation, the sales tax holiday will apply to: clothing priced at $75 per item or less, school supplies priced at $20 per item or less, and school instructional material priced at $20 per item or less.

The sales tax holiday will end at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. All stores must take part in the sales tax holiday, according to the Ohio Department of Taxation.
