9mm Handgun Found When Lakewood Police Tow Car

Officers were asked to resolve a theft complaint. Instead, they found a handgun in a man's possession.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Police arrested a Maple Heights man with a handgun on Saturday night. The man had been accused of stealing money from a Lakewood resident.

At about 11 p.m. on Saturday, a caller told police he gave a man money and the man took off with it. The caller said he was now in his car following the alleged thief's vehicle down Detroit Avenue, near Simone's Beverage.

Officers arrived on the scene at about 11:05 p.m. and stopped both cars. The issue with the theft was resolved without any charges being filed, Lakewood Police said. But the Maple Heights man was still going to be arrested.
