Students Benefit MetroHealth

Saint Joseph Academy students led a holiday collection drive benefitting children being seen in MetroHealth’s pediatric exam rooms. They stopped by to drop off their donations on Feb. 12.

They brought several bags, which contained dozens of popular children’s books. The students collected the children's books for Reach Out and Read, an evidence-based nonprofit organization that promotes early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide.

MetroHealth pediatrician Robert Needlman, MD, is a co-founder of the Reach Out and Read program. He visited Saint Joseph Academy in December to explain the benefits of the program, which promotes giving books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud.
