Annual Lakewood Youth Basketball Tournament Set For April

Sponsored by the Lakewood Police Department, teams from each of Lakewood's elementary schools will face off for bragging rights.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood Police Department's annual Youth Basketball tournament will again be held April 6th at Lakewood High.

The tournament will feature seven teams of fifth graders from each of Lakewood's elementary schools. The teams will compete against one another in a single elimination tournament. The first game will be played at 9 a.m. and the championship game will tip-off at 2 p.m.

The games are open to the public and free to attend. Lakewood Police invited the public to "Join us for this fun filled day and come out and support your community."

During the tournament, representatives from the Lakewood Community Services Center will collect monetary donations, non-perishable items, and hygiene products.

There will also be a raffle, sponsored by the police and the Lakewood Teacher's Association. The raffle drawing will be held at halftime of the championship game and winners do not need to be present.
