Lindey's Lake Bar To Open In Lakewood, Will Replace Jammy Buggars

Restaurateur Rick Doody has submitted plans to open the restaurant in the old Jammy Buggars space on Detroit Avenue.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Restaurateur Rick Doody has plans to open a new restaurant on Detroit Avenue, in the former Jammy Buggars space. Architectural renderings for the project were submitted to the city for consideration before the end of 2018.

The new restaurant — which will be called Lindey's Lake Bar — would combine two tenant spaces at 15625 Detroit Avenue into one restaurant. The brick facade of the building would be painted and new overhead garage doors and awnings would be installed, according to a filing with the city's Architectural Board of Review.

Doody told Patch the Lakewood restaurant will share some similarities with the recently opened Lindey's Lake House on the east side. "Our thought is to do something very similar to that, but maybe more of a bar version," he said. "Less emphasis on entrees and more emphasis on bar items like tacos and flatbread pizzas, small plates. The restaurant would have a similar vibe and atmosphere."

The restaurant would serve local and farm-to-table foods, a trend Doody and his family have been part of for nearly half a century.

Doody already owns a number of notable restaurants in Northeast Ohio and beyond. Cedar Creek Grille, in Beachwood, Coastal Tacos in the Flats and the Bravo and Brio chains all belong to Doody and his family.

If everything goes according to plan, which is a big "if" in the restaurant business, Lindey's Lake Bar in Lakewood would open in the spring, Doody hoped. He said he did not want to rush the opening, but instead wanted to focus on the quality of the design and construction.

"We love the market, we love the people [of Lakewood]," he told Patch. "It’s a great community. I think the city is very pro-business. I’ve followed Mayor Mike Summers down there and they take a positive approach to businesses."

Doody added that the Detroit Avenue location felt "right" to him. He said it appealed to his "local restaurant" concepts. The restaurant could open its doors in April or May of this year.
