Basketball Courts To Officially Open At Madison Park July 25
The city of Lakewood is holding a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the new courts.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The new basketball court at Madison Park will be officially opened to the public on Wednesday, July 25. The city is hosting a ribbon-cutting event at 6:30 p.m. that will include pick-up games and light refreshments.
“Adding the new soccer futsal court last year and full court basketball court this year in Madison Park provides our residents with additional opportunities to be social, active and healthy”, said Mayor Mike Summers.
The public is invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Pick-up games will be played on Wednesday.

The basketball courts will be open to all from 9 a.m. to dusk each day, following the ribbon-cutting. Court rules will be posted. This is the city's only full-court basketball court, though there are half-courts at Lakewood Park.
“We have wanted a full court for a while, some Lakewood kids can’t afford to pay for organized sports, so this will be great," said Jaxen, a Lakewood High School student.

Work on the Madison Park court began in June 2018 and was handled by VASCO Sports Contractors. The Lakewood Outdoor Basketball Committee (LOBC) helped spearhead the return of full-court basketball to Lakewood.
“It was a long time coming and we are excited to join with youth basketball players and the Mayor to kick off this full court basketball addition to the community,” said Roger Sikes of LOBC.
