Declawed Adult Cats Looking for a Second Chance

Do you prefer a pet "sans" claws? Recently our local Lakewood Animal Shelter has placed up for adoption four declawed adult cats.

Recently our local Lakewood Animal Shelter has placed up for adoption four declawed adult cats.

While CCLAS (Citizens Committee for a Lakewood Animal Shelter) does not advocate this procedure, there are still many pet owners out there who prefer their pet "sans" claws. If you fall into that category, please consider giving one of these guys (and gal) a second chance in a new home, but remember they must remain "indoor-only" kitties.

Click on the slideshow on the right to meet Chester, a loud meower with a beautiful orange fur coat. Or how about Kemo, a front and back declawed handsome all black fellow with a bit of white fur on his chest. Not to be forgotten, Junebug and George are recently abandoned roommates found under a Lakewood resident's porch, both need a little TLC.

In effort to find these fellows (and lady) furever homes fast, the Lakewood Animal Shelter has reduced all adoption fees for spayed or neutered shelter cats to only $15 through September 30th. Normally $35, the adoption fee includes deworming medicine, initial vaccination, flea treatment, a collar with identification tag, a cardboard carrier, and voucher for a wellness visit with second vaccination with participating local veterinarian.

For more information about the animals available for adoption at the Lakewood Animal Shelter, please visit www.CCLAS.info or call the shelter at (216) 529-5020.
