Tale of a Foreclosed Property Renovation in Lakewood: The Basement
After renovating much of the house, attention was then turned to our one of two remaining blank slates.
Good day everyone.
If any of you are actually following my blog, I apologize.
I told myself I would be posting, at a minimum, one blog per month and I seem to be stretching that out further and further.

In my defense I took on a job refinishing 1,000-square-feet of hardwood floors in Cleveland and I'm doing most of it solo — it is obviously taking up an awful lot of my time and energy.
So with that out of the way, I would like to introduce you to my basement.

The basement has a very special place in the hearts of those who were there from the beginning working on the house. It was our coffee room, their smoking lounge, our changing room and our break room. Luckily for us this house had a full bathroom added to the basement some point so that of course was a great asset.
As of Day 1, the basement was simply open with furnaces, water heaters, wash tub, full bathroom and 3 storage rooms. It was pretty much grey on grey unless you were in the bathroom at which point it was full of what looked like black mold.
This is what makes this such an exciting story for me to tell you is that, from where we started to where we are now, the transformation is mind bottleing.
;)
Starting with four fold-out chairs and a few plastic patio tables to having a massive workshop, a livingroom, a mud room and a very large laundry room, I smile and marvel at the changes that have taken place over the years.
At the time of purchase and for the first year, the main floors took center stage.
It was not till after the first year that we began to customize this basement and make it usable, inviting and one of our favorite places in the house. Prior to this point in time, the basement was a mess as we it was the only storage space we had for the 4 people living in the house.
In an effort to keep this shorter than some of the past blogs, I am going to attempt to use as short of descriptions as possible. So without further adue, The Basement.
