🌱 Burton Carol Management Fined + Orange Air Quality Alert Issued

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Lakewood.

Hey, Lakewood! Here's everything you need to know to get this Friday started off right.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and beautiful. High: 76 Low: 66.

Here are the top three stories today in Lakewood:

  1. Burton Carol Management was fined $250 for the parking garage collapse at its property in Lakewood, Marine Towers West. The company's attorney entered a no-contest plea for failing to secure a permit. About a dozen cars were crushed and residents were required to evacuate but allowed to return the next day. (Fox 8)
  2. COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Ohio for the sixth straight week as multiple variants of omicron circulate. Hospitalizations and ICU numbers have remained stable. Dr. Amy Edwards with University Hospitals blamed the increase on people "not trying anymore." (Cleveland 19)
  3. An "orange" air quality advisory was issued for eight counties in Northeast Ohio yesterday, citing unhealthy conditions for sensitive groups. The alert is a warning for children, teens, people with lung disease, older adults, and those who work outdoors more than six hours per day. Officials recommended residents limit their outdoor activity. (Cleveland 19)
