Car Hits Tree, Catches Fire In Lakewood
Police said a speeding car smashed into a tree on Warren Avenue. The driver tried to run after the crash.

LAKEWOOD, OH — A car smacked into a tree and caught fire on Sunday in Lakewood. Police are still investigating the incident and what led to the accident.
A police report said the crashed car was speeding away from an incident on Morrison Ave. The driver lost control of his sedan and smashed into a tree on Warren Ave. at 6:50 a.m. The car caught fire and Lakewood firefighters had to extinguish the blaze.
One man ran from the scene of the accident, but was later taken into custody by Lakewood police. A woman who was riding in the car was also taken into a custody. Both were also taken to a hospital for an evaluation.

The speeding car hit another vehicle before crashing into the tree. The driver of the other car was also taken to the hospital for an evaluation.
