
Races for Peace Plans Choose Peace 5k for Cleveland
Races for Peace will hold a Choose Peace 5k run/walk event on Saturday, October 21st for local residents of all ages. The event will be held at Edgewater Park and registration opens at 8:00 am in the Upper West Shelter.
In addition to the timed run or fun walk in the newly renovated section of the park, participants will experience a pre-race educational program devoted to building peace. Highlights include Community Tables, a Victims of Violence Memorial, the Protector of the Peace Award, and special guest speaker Sammy Rangel, Executive Director of Life After Hate which is a nonprofit founded by former neo-Nazis who are now dedicated to helping people leave lives of hate and violence.

Proceeds from the Choose Peace 5k Cleveland will help support the local nonprofit Peacemakers Alliance run by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland. This organization plays an important role in reducing violence in the city through its crime-prevention initiatives. βThe Choose Peace 5k events are excellent opportunities for people from all walks of life to come together to reject hate and violence and to stand up for peace,β said Leigh Giles-Brown, President and Founder of Races for Peace.
