Here are the top three stories today in Lakewood:

  1. Starbucks workers at the Mayfield and Lee locations in Cleveland Heights and at the Clifton Boulevard location in Cleveland have voted unanimously to unionize. On Tuesday afternoon the National Labor Relations Board tallied the votes that had been done by mail over the last month. Workers at the Starbucks Euclid Avenue in the University Circle location have been voting by mail as well and those votes are scheduled to be counted Friday. (Cleveland Scene)
  2. At the suggestion of the Lakewood Youth Council, the Lakewood City Council is considering a vaping and smoking ban in community parks. The Lakewood City Council Vice President Sarah Kepple said it seemed like something that would be good for the city and for those who use the parks. The ordinance is expected to pass later this year and covers smoking, e-cigarettes, and tobacco. (cleveland.com)
  3. A lost African Serval cat that escaped from its east side Cleveland owner in June was spotted at a Cleveland steel mill last weekend. A Cleveland police incident log described the cat as "big as a dog." Callers from the East 37th and Cedar area had reported a "bobcat" sighting, but by the time police began their search the car was nowhere to be found. (Cleveland Scene)
