City Invites Residents To Weigh In On One Lakewood Place Space
The community is asked to provide feedback on the proposed community gathering space at the mixed-use development.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The community is invited to weigh in on the One Lakewood Place community gathering space.
The listening session and workshop will be held Jan. 30 at Lakewood Public Library. The session is free and open to all residents.
During the event, there will be a presentation providing information about the project and then and open house discussion on what the community gathering space should look like.

In December, the development team from Carnegie presented a revamped vision of the community gathering space, with a water feature and a stage, and comparisons to other parks in Northeast Ohio. The plan was posted online by the city.
The former Lakewood Hospital site is being turned into a mixed-use development. Demolition on certain buildings near the area, including a small commercial facility on Marlowe, has already begun.

Some residents have expressed concern over the project, wondering how development of a mixed-use site will impact surrounding homes and their values. In November 2018, the city held a meeting with residents on Marlowe and Belle to hear out their concerns.

At the meeting, many participants were worried about increasing density in the area, and the proposed size of the apartment building, which some felt was simply too tall. Current plans have been revised down to a seven floor building, but some feel that is still too tall for the aesthetic of the neighborhood.
