I just learned of the RTA project for Clifton Blvd. by reading it in yesterday's PD. I'm curious, because none of my neighbors or myself (all Clifton Blvd. residents) were informed as to this monumental change.
First of all, with a designated bus lane, will
residents still be able to park on Clifton Blvd? What if we have a party or holiday celebration? Where are our guests suppose to park?
With the buses having their own signal system to "promote smoother flow", how are pedestrians, families with strollers, children on bicycles, suppose to get across the street? If you have driven on the Euclid Corridor, then you know that cars and buses have their own signals. Being a business area, the majority of people crossing the street are workers and students. Are 60' buses necessary? I have never seen any of those buses completely filled. Why does RTA think that 60' buses are going to increase ridership? Has the City of Lakewood forgotten that Clifton Blvd. is a residential street? The Euclid Corridor - which most people despise driving upon - is filled with businesses. The two cannot be compared. Lakewood is a community. It is about people. Is anyone going to ask us how we feel about this project?
