Coffee With A Lakewood Cop Returns Sept. 29

Nature's Oasis will host the latest iteration of the event.

LAKEWOOD, OH — After a few months of ice cream and friendly chatter with community cops, the monthly Coffee with a Cop event returns to its roots. No more Cones with a Cop, instead attendees will once again enjoy a warm cup of java with officers.

Nature's Oasis, 15613 Detroit Ave., will play host for the event on Sept. 29. From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., attendees can sit down and speak with the men and women that patrol the streets of Lakewood.

As with previous Coffee with a Cop events, there is no pre-set agenda or mandatory talking points. Attendees are free to talk about whatever they wish. (Subscribe to the Patch Lakewood newsletter for local news and updates.)

Participating officers won't provide free coffee, the city says, but will have some tokens to give out to attendees. The city adds on its website that it hopes the event will strengthen the relationship between residents and officers.

Coffee with a Cop in Lakewood is part of a national movement aimed at improving community relations between police departments and the cities they police. Several police departments throughout Ohio engage in similar events.
