The College Event Cleveland at Lake Ridge Academy

Your Teen Magazine and Lake Ridge Academy will lead interactive discussions to help you navigate this process successfully.

College Event will be held on Monday, September 21 at 6:30 pm at Lake Ridge Academy. The cost is $10.00 and interested attendees can sign up at: http://yourteenmag.com/product/event-payment.

This event is the first for Lake Ridge, but has been noted as the premier college-rated event for parents held at the East Side Location at Hathaway Brown.

“This program has been so successful at Hathaway Brown, we decided to make the same information accessible for all Clevelanders, said Susan Borison, editor of Your Teen Magazine. “The college selection and funding process can be overwhelming, but the information that we offer can make everyone a better consumer.”

The evening will begin with access to sponsors who will talk one-on-one with parents and teens about college-related products.

Opening remarks will be given from the college counselor at Lake Ridge Academy and will include information of the college admissions process with an emphasis on how to understand the cost of college.

Breakout sessions will be available for parents and will include topics such as the secret of college admisstion (Susan Dileno from Ohio Weleyan), financing college (Matt Selhar from BlackRock), How to help your kids figure out what they want to be when they grow up (Kirsten Ellenbogen, CEO of Great Lakes Science Center) and Real Parents, Real Stories (a discussion about the college process with parents who have been through it).

The kids will be in a separate room with food and with the admissions team from Ohio State who will do admissions exercises.

“The process can be overwhelming, but more information can make everyone a better consumer,” said Borison. “After sending 4 kids to college, I still learn something new and useful at each event. This event allows parents to gain a better understanding of the process and gather enough information to form your family’s strategy while staying sane in the process.”
