🌱 LGBTQ Youth Nonprofit Programs + Lakewood Community Open Houses
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Lakewood.
Hello all. Carla Varner here with your fresh copy of the Lakewood Daily, full of all the local news you need to know right now. Here we go.
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny and pleasant. High: 78 Low: 68.
Here are the top three stories in Lakewood today:
- Colors+, an LGTBQ nonprofit that serves kids in nine Northeast Ohio counties, has recently expanded its programming, thanks to input from local youth in the communities it serves. The organization now offers drop-in nights for LGBTQ+ kids, inclusive sexual health classes, art therapy, a clothing affirmation program, drag programming, and family counseling and support groups. Colors+ will be holding a grand opening celebration at its new 3,500-square-foot space at 21430 Lorain Road in nearby Fairview Park on Jun. 18. (Cleveland.com)
- After its initial meeting on Jun. 8, the City of Lakewood will be hosting three additional Community Open Houses this week as part of its Community Health Needs Assessment. Community members are invited to attend and share their thoughts on the overall health of Lakewood. Tonight's meeting is happening at 6:00 p.m. at Cove Community Center, and the open houses on Jun. 14 (virtual) and Jun. 16 (United Methodist Church on Detroit Ave.) will take place at 6:30 p.m. (Lakewood.gov)
- You can't make a list of the best restaurants in the Cleveland area without exploring suburbs like Lakewood! Barroco hosts a great menu of arepas and has fantastic live Latin music three nights a week. Seoul Garden has been considered the region's best Korean restaurant for nearly a decade. There is also Pier W, which has won Scene's best of "most romantic restaurants" multiple times. Learn more about these and other Lakewood eateries in this roundup from Cleveland Scene.
