Here are the top three stories today in Lakewood:
- Lakewood City council members met Monday night for a special meeting following the United States Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. During the meeting, the council passed a resolution asking state leaders to allow abortions in Ohio. The resolution also promises Lakewood residents that the city will be looking into ways to support them. (Cleveland 19 News)
- Data from the National Association of Realtors demonstrates that Ohio ranks 9th in the country in an increase in investors and companies buying residential homes in the real estate market. The May report indicated that "institutional buyers" made up 16 percent of all home buyers in 2021. Institutional buyers are typically corporations or companies that place all-cash offers on homes and turn them into rentals. (News 5 Cleveland)
- The warming trend continues this week with temperatures today reaching into the 80s. The National Weather Service's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and light breezes throughout the day with skies remaining clear overnight and temperatures dropping into the 60s. Thursday will be hotter with highs climbing to the upper 80s. (Cleveland.com)
