It tells the story of Ida, a little girl who encounters a number of challenging situations and who finds the right words to express her feelings and to speak out and take a stand for kindness. Here are the top three stories in Lakewood today:
- The Lakewood City Council is considering enacting an ordinance to reduce the speed on Lake Avenue from 35 mph to 25 mph. Ward 4 Councilwoman Cindy Marx and Council-at-Large representative Tom Bullock co-sponsored the legislation. Marx has said that lowering the speed limit will reduce the likelihood of collisions and enhance pedestrian safety. (cleveland.com)
- The City of Cleveland is looking into solutions for a Cleveland Heights resident whose home has been damaged by cars crashing into his property on more than one occasion over the years. The homeowner has asked for a guardrail in the past, but a city spokesperson said that wasn't possible because the length ODOT requires would block driveways. The most recent accident happened on Tuesday when a driver, attempting to escape police, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the home, causing extensive damage. (News 5 Cleveland)
- Artists and craftspeople will line Detroit Avenue, from Belle Avenue to Arthur Avenue, for the 45th Lakewood Arts Festival on Aug. 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Approximately 165 artists are chosen each year to take part in the juried art show. Awards, funded partly by local businesses and community organizations, are presented to the artists who are selected as best of show, second place, third place, best creative presentation, and best new artist.
