Lakewood Named One Of Ohio's Coziest Winter Towns

A new ranking says Lakewood is one of the best places to "cozy up" in Northeast Ohio.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood is the second coziest Northeast Ohio town in winter, according to a new ranking from Only In Your State.

Despite a relatively mild start to winter, Northeast Ohioans are both expecting and bracing for snow. By February, we'll have all dealt with our share of snow storms. Luckily, Lakewood residents are in one of the better cities to spend a night watching snow flakes fall.

"Though Lakewood is so close to Cleveland that you can actually see the city's skyline, this quaint community can feel worlds away. Its gorgeous antique streets and lakefront green spaces are sure to delight visitors, leaving them with no doubt as to why roughly 52,500 residents call this city home," Only In Your State writes.

When will hard snow arrive, though? It may be far later than expected.

The Old Farmer's Almanac predicted that Ohioans would enjoy a warmer-than-usual winter in 2019. That will mean less snow and more rain during the traditional winter months.

"Our milder-than-normal forecast is due to a decrease in solar activity and the expected arrival of a weak El Niño, which will prevent cold air masses from lingering in the North," the almanac said.

There may simply be fewer chances to get cozy this winter — though we're unconvinced that's a bad thing.
