Drive Electric Event Coming To Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, OH — National Drive Electric week will come to Lakewood on Tuesday night. The city is hosting a display of electric vehicles and drivers for residents to interact with.

The Drive Electric NEO event will be held at Serpentini Arena Winterhurst on Tuesday night, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Eleven different electric vehicle models will be on display and owners of electric vehicles will be on-hand to talk about their cars.

Attendees will also get the chance to either ride-along in or drive an electric vehicle. All road trips will include the owner of the electric vehicle.

Winterhurst is also the location of Lakewood's new DC Fast Charger, located in the northern edge of the parking lot. Residents can see the installation and learn more about the feature during Tuesday night's festivities.

The DC Fast Charge station allows for rapid recharging of electric vehicles, with most vehicles restoring 80 percent of battery charge within 30 minutes. Officials chose the Winterhurst location because of its proximity to I-90, the city said on its website.

Lakewood has one other electric vehicle charging station, a Level 2 EV station at Lakewood City Center (Marc's Plaza). That charger was installed about a year ago. In a video of Mayor Mike Summers making use of the station last year, he suggests the city is considering further implementation of EV charging stations.
