Emerson Elementary Gets New Principal
The Lakewood Schools announced Denice Leddy would become the new principal of the school starting Aug. 1, 2017.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Emerson Elementary has a new principal. Denice Leddy will take over the role starting Aug. 1, 2017. She is currently serving as the Alliance City Schools' Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment.
Leddy will replace Brian Siftar at Emerson. Siftar is moving to Lakewood High School, where he will serve as associate principal next year.
In a long career in education, Leddy has served as the Coordinator of Assessment and Accountability for Cleveland Heights-University Heights. She has also previously been an elementary school principal in both Cleveland Heights and Kent.

The district said in a statement that Leddy came with several top-notch recommendations that described her as "a star," a "total team player," and the "whole package."
Leddy said that she is eager to return to the building level of education. She wants to support teachers and students with the things she's learned in her career. She told the Lakewood Board of Education that she was “impressed by the level of engagement both in the community and Emerson in particular.”
